The October opening of the Gotham Hotel on 46th Street will bring a new type of hotel experience to the center of Midtown Manhattan. With terraces off every room, guests feel as if they’re floating above the city, while enjoying sweeping New York views.  Conceived, built and owned by R&B Development (Soho North, 50 West, Windows on 123) and operated by Klaus Ortlieb of KO Hospitality (The Cooper Square Hotel, The Reform Club), the hotel offers guests the privacy and comfort of their own New York apartment. Staff members greet guests and escort them to the 66 rooms and suites without the formality of a check-in desk. With just two to four spacious rooms per floor, an entire story of the 26-floor building can be reserved for larger groups or families staying together.  Additionally, a specialty minibar tailored to the single man or woman, traveling alone, offers the conveniences of home with options such as shaving kits and manicure/pedicure supplies. The design by C3D Architecture accentuates the hotel’s luxurious and relaxing atmosphere, and bespoke furnishings further the personalized sensibility. Located on the site that was formerly home to the historic Gotham Book Mart, the Gotham Hotel pays homage to its literary roots with a collection of books purchased from Housing Works, the non-profit organization.  With a thoughtful approach to hospitality, design and amenities, the Gotham Hotel is a serene hideaway to rest and recharge before exploring the bustling Midtown surroundings, home to world-class museums, shopping and some of the best restaurants in New York.
